DURHAM CAREER FAIR |

|
|
The Durham Chamber of Commerce did a great job getting over 2000 Durham
middle school students and their parents to a Career Fair last month, where
they had a chance to connect with more than 150 career professionals.
Here's what some of the kids learned:
· different careers hold a lot of responsibilities
· there are a lot of different jobs in one field
· lots of stuff is about math and science
· I saw careers I haven’t even heard of
· do what you like and you’ll enjoy your career
Another great example of making the connection between students, parents and
local businesses! |

WHAT IS A CAREER COACH? |
|
|

|
 |
|
 |
 |
So, what is a Career Coach? Simply put, Career Coaches are
online mentors for the students of North
Carolina—a source of information and
encouragement regardless of a student's location
or socioeconomic background.
Why are they important? In less than 15
minutes a week, you can provide a student with
direction and purpose while reinforcing the
relevance of school.
Sometimes all it takes is a different vantage
point or a nudge from someone who has been
there…how many young people’s lives could you
make a difference in?
Here are some of the areas where we especially
need your expertise as a
Career Coach:
|
Animal Caretaker
Pediatrician |
Criminologist
Tattoo Artist |
Fashion Designer
Stylist |
